Carrotmob Brussels will be explaining the concept of Carrotmobbing on the ecological fair Ecopop. Carrotmob is programmed on Sunday 7th on 12h30.

On Saterday 6 there will be an interview on Studio Brussels live from Ecopop (16h30).

This month, an article of Carrotmob Brussels appeared in the magazine MO*.

Carrotmob wins Groene Bril !!!

Yesterday 12 january 2010 Carrotmob won the ‘Groene Bril’! This reward is an initiative of Jong Groen!, the young branch of the Flemish ecological party Groen!. The Groene Bril is rewarded to the best ecological initiative of the past year. Other selected finalists were the ecological theater ‘Tegen de Lamp’ and the ‘Passiefhuis-Platform’, a platform for passive houses. Yesterday, during the new-years reception of Jong Groen! in De Markten in Brussels, Carrotmob was proclaimed as winner of the award. As well Carrotmob Antwerp as Carrotmob Brussels were present at the event to receive the price. Carrotmob thanks Jong Groen! for the recognition it gets with this reward and hopes that this will help Carrotmob in gaining more publicity and showing that accessible positive action is possible.

First Carrotmob a modest success!

First and for all : Thanks a million for everybody that was participating in this Carrotmob: organizers, consumers, shop owner, sponsors, … !!

It was one of the coldest days of the year. When we started to put up our tent in the morning we registered a temperature of -10°C! Despite the cold, risking a few toes, we were there!! Congratulations!

We must be honest, we didn’t welcome as much shoppers as we had hoped. That’s maybe also because I was hoping to get completely squeezed by a crowd of mobbers (in order to prepare for the Christmas parties). Carrotmob caused an extra profit of about 650 EUR that will be invested in energy efficiency. Not too bad for a small shop.

Nevertheless we can consider the first Carrotmob in Brussels a success! The atmosphere was fantastic, the soup delicious, the concerts great, we looked better in our Carrot suit than Penelope Cruz and Brad Pitt together … ! The kind shop owner took care of extra organic products, the organization went smooth, contacts with occasional passenger were good, the afterparty rocked … .

We had a good media coverage: FM Brussel, Viva Cité, De Standaard, Brussel Deze Week, Indymedia, Het nieuwblad, Radio 2, Campus Magazine, Knack, … . And that is also very important. The idea of Carrotmob is spreading like the Mexican Flu. Through Carrotmob we show people that POSITIVE ACTION is possible. And that is of huge importance!

We will now sit together with the shop owner, try to collect all the media material (pictures soon coming on the blog) and brainstorm about the future. I think there are still a lot of fantastic idea and opportunities to grasp with this group of fantastic people!

We all brought a brilliant movement of positive action to Brussels!

The Carrot moved to the centre, where he is decorating the ‘Muntplein’, but the big surprise was SUPER CARROTSOUP! Some moving carrots were distributing free and delicious Carrotsoup at the place St-Catheleine, close to the Christmasmarket. Have a look at the pictureline and start drooling!

Yesterday the Carrot stood on Flagey, then he moved to the Parvis de St-Gilles, and tomorrow he will go to the centre. Around 19-20 o’clock the big surprise will be revealed …

Carrotmob Brussels was at the climat manifestation in Brussels! Have a look at the pictures. Carrotmob distributed biological carrots, flyers and smiles. The big carrots growing on our back and the shopping cart we were pushing left no doubt: carrotmob.
